Pipestone Court Records Duties
Court Administration manages the District Court files rather than county land or vital records. It processes and calendars Civil, Family/Probate, Criminal/Traffic, Juvenile, and Conciliation cases. It also collects and disburses fines, fees, and restitution, safeguards court-ordered trusts, and helps route copy requests to the correct access channel.
The Pipestone County Recorder is a different office. Recorder Emaleigh Rippentrop handles real estate, abstract and Torrens records, subdivision plats, tax liens, birth, death, marriage, notary, ordination, and military discharge records. That distinction keeps court records separate from recorder and vital-record requests.
Court Administration is also the office to contact when MCRO does not show the needed record, when a certified judgment search is needed, or when an older document may be off-site. Public online access is useful for search and review, but the courthouse office remains the authoritative source for certified court copies and access questions about restricted case files.
- Maintain District Court files and case records.
- Calendar civil, family/probate, criminal/traffic, juvenile, and conciliation matters.
- Collect and disburse fines, fees, restitution, and trust funds.
- Process copy requests and certified copy requests.
- Provide traffic-ticket payment contact information.
Request Pipestone Certified Copies
MCRO can provide free public access to many case details and online documents, but MCRO records are not certified. Certified copies and certified civil judgment search results must come from Court Administration. The statewide copy-request materials list online, in-person, mail, and eFile/eServe routes depending on the requester and case type.
The Minnesota court copy request overview explains plain, certified, and exemplified copies.
Certified and exemplified copy choices affect both the fee and the type of court authentication placed on the record.
- Search MCRO or your paperwork for the case number, party names, and document name.
- Choose the copy type: plain, certified, exemplified, or certified and exemplified.
- Submit the request online where available, in person, by mail, or through eFile/eServe if you are a party in an existing case.
- Include payment when required and wait for Court Administration to confirm delivery or pickup.
- Ask the office about sealed, confidential, or older off-site files before assuming same-day access.
Pipestone Copy Request Fields
The statewide copy request form asks for contact details, case type, case identifiers, party names, document descriptions, copy type, quantity, cost, and delivery method. If the case number is unknown, include county, party names, dates, and as much identifying information as possible.
Case type matters because the same courthouse processes civil, family, criminal, conciliation, juvenile, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, and mental-health categories. A clear case type helps staff distinguish a divorce decree from a probate order, a criminal complaint from a traffic citation, or a conciliation judgment from a civil judgment search.
The ways to request court copies page describes MCRO, in-person, mail, and eFile/eServe request methods.
Those request channels are useful when an online MCRO document is not enough for a certified legal use.

Pipestone Court Administrator Fees
Fees come from the Pipestone County District Court fee schedule. Plain copies are listed at no fee, but certification, exemplification, system reports, filing fees, and some case actions carry set charges. A party who cannot afford a filing fee may need to use the court's fee-waiver process.
Copy fees should be separated from filing fees. A person may owe no fee for a plain copy but still owe a certification fee for an official record, or a filing fee when starting a new civil, conciliation, dissolution, trust, or expungement matter.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Plain uncertified copy of a civil or criminal proceeding document | $0 |
| Certified copy of any instrument from a civil or criminal proceeding | $14 |

Pipestone Court Forms
Copy-request forms are published through the Minnesota Judicial Branch. Fifth District counties use local or statewide forms, and the statewide copy request form was revised in April 2026. The form should be submitted to Court Administration with payment if a fee applies.
The court copy request forms page routes users to the correct form set.
Using the Judicial Branch form reduces delays caused by missing case type, party name, or delivery details.
Certified copy rule: Use Court Administration for certified records because online MCRO documents are public access copies, not certified court records.
Mail Online and In Person
Requests can start with MCRO when public documents are available online. In-person requests at Court Administration can often be completed the same day, although some files may be off-site or restricted. Mail requests use the copy request form sent to the county where the case is located. Parties may submit some copy requests in an existing case through eFile/eServe.
The Pipestone County courthouse contact page lists the courthouse address and county office hours.
The same courthouse address is used for Court Administration and many county departments, but the correct office depends on the record type.
Traffic-ticket questions and payments are directed to the Minnesota Court Payment Center at 1-800-657-3611 outside the metro area or 651-281-3219 in metro area codes.
Language access is handled through the 3rd/5th District interpreter scheduling email listed in the research, 3rd.5thInterpreterscheduling@courts.state.mn.us, for languages other than English. That contact is useful before a hearing or courthouse visit when a party or witness needs an interpreter.
The local court page also notes that payments cannot be accepted at the counter after 2:30 p.m. on the last working day of the month. Fine payments may still be made through the Minnesota Court Payment Center, so end-of-month counter limits should not be confused with a records-office closure.
For remote-hearing access, jury service, law library links, and court fees, start with the official Pipestone County District Court page. For the actual certified copy, copy type, or case-file access issue, Court Administration is the office that can confirm what is available for the specific case.
